new project

My brain is wired so that I always need to be doing something new and I want to keep things fresh in the gift giving area! I just started learing to hand embroider and made some really cute things for my friend that is having a baby in March. What do you think? I almost thought of adding something like this to my site so people who bought a blanket could add one of these to it with some personalization. I did this free hand and it's my first one so don't judge to much :) The first one is his initials and the hat has a little star on it...I need to work on my star!

toffee

Every year I make toffee for my friends and family at Christmas...this year I left it until the very last minutes because we've been preoccupied with lots of other things. I almost thought I'd skip it this year but I can't break tradition after all this time! I ended up making about 25 bags and managed to deliver them all on the 23rd :).

Tahoe

We left for Tahoe on the 18th of December for a few days and then last week has flown by like crazy with Christmas so I haven't had a chance to blog! I hope everyone had a great holiday! Here are a few pictures from our trip!

christmas cards

One of my favorite times of the year is December because we get christmas cards in the mail. For one month out of the year we get more letters from our friends than the bill collectors. Until last year I always struggled with where to put all of them so we can look at them through out the month..finally I found a solution. All you need is ribbon, tacks and clothes pins.

quote of the day

“do unto others as we would have them do unto us.” Its meaning is clear: treat others only in ways that you would want to be treated.

new fabrics

I'm adding a few new fabrics to my collection. I just sent them off to my web gal so they should be up shortly! Here's a peek! I am also updating my blanket pictures (they've been bugging me).

redo

We've been in the process of "trying" to sell our house in this crappy market so we've had to keep the house spotless the last 3 months and make it look like two adults, two cats, 18month old and a dog don't live here. Everything personal is in the garage every other day to have showings and frankly it's a pain in the arse. Bottom line is looks like we'll be staying here for a bit longer and if we do I want to redo the monkey's room...I thought this removable wall art would look super cute in his room.

this one's cute too

Cowboy Christmas in templeton CA

my mom's good friend Nancy that lives in the area and my BFF

I might as well been catching flies that day... and by the way it was 33 degrees when I woke up that day to set up...burrr.

toothpicks

Right now I need some toothpicks to hold my eyes open but just wanted to add a quick post. The show in Templeton went really well today, everyone was really nice and friendly and bought lots of blankets. They bought so many that I had to come home and make more for my show tomorrow. The Templeton/Paso Robles area is so quaint I wish I could have a vacation home there :). I think it has over 165 wineries in the area and I swear it's going to be the next little Napa. Two more blankets to go and then bed time...

two more shows this weekend

Friday night I'm heading down to the Paso Robles/Templeton area for a show on Saturday called "Cowboy Christmas". It's held in the down town area of Templeton and is an annual event. My BFF mentioned it to me so I thought it would be a good for me to head down with my products and it also gives me a chance to visit with her! Sunday I'll be back in town for a show at the Center Street Grill in down town S.C.

Mags!

Yet again I find myself with a huge stack of magazines that have been neglected because I've been so focused on my shows for the holiday season. I always tend to organize them before I start reading them (put the small ones that are really quick on the top so I feel like I'm making progress). The first one I picked up was a Serena & Lily catalogue which is so adorable! I opened it up and read their mission statement and love it!

"We believe that things last forever. Old favorites with happy memories attached. Special linens that get better with time. Family heirlooms with a story and a soul. We are not about trends or seasons. We are not fleeting.

We are the things you hold onto and pass on. We are nostalgic. We are timeless. Our collections are inspired by real life-the color of the sky that day, a pair of vintage roller skates-and made to last forever. They are the characters in our lives-created for your families and ours. We hope they'll mean as much to you as they do us. " Serena & Lily

Christmas Tree

Every year the day after Thanksgiving we go and cut down a tree at the crest ranch in the Santa Cruz mountains. This is a great place to get a tree because they have all kinds of things the kids can play with and you can also pack a lunch and eat up there at the picnic tables (you can buy food there also). They have a play ground and lots of little tree houses for the kids, I also saw kids riding their bikes around the ranch this year.
